1 month photos (actually 5 weeks)

Anatassia had her pictures taken on Monday for her 1 month birthday (it was actually 5 weeks). Although we did not get her to smile, she was at least awake and not crying so I figure that was a step in the right direction. Below are some of the pictures.

I was not aware that I was going to be part of the pictures so I am not thrilled with the picture but it is not about me (or so I have been told!)

Collage of pictures - they are in a frame under glass so there is a glare - bottom right picture is my engagement ring on her toes

Full body shot - she was not thrilled about this whole process

4 weeks old

Anatassia had her 4 week check-up on Monday June 16. All was well. She is currently 10lbs so I guess feedings are going well and is 22in long. She typically is a happy, easy going baby but due to me being on some antibiotics for 10 days then a second round for 10 more days she has started being a little more fussy but the end is near for the meds so our happy baby is gradually returning. She sleeps like a champ (about 3-4 hour bouts) which I enjoy. When she does wake up she is quick to eat and go back to sleep. (she likes her sleep like her dad!)

We have started going to a new moms group which really shows what a good, easy baby we have. A lot of these other moms have not ventured out of the house in 4 weeks so when we went to lunch after the meeting they were nervous about how their babies would act. Well, Anastassia has had a few lunches and dinners out (as well as shopping trips ) so she slept right thru the whole event. The other babies all were good as well which I am sure the restaurant was happy about since there were 5 of us all with babies! One funny thing that happened was one of the moms had to go to the bathroom so she left her baby with us at the table. When she came back she was all flustered and said "am I a bad mom - I just left me baby with you all who I just meet 2 hours ago and I don't even know your last names". We all reassured her that we were probably the safest people to leave the baby with because we all already have one and don't want another one at this time!

We did our first 10K this weekend. Mike ran and Anastassia and I ran/walked. We made it to the 3 mile mark and had to stop for a bottle. I was able to run about another mile while she bask in her food coma but then had to walk about 1 mile while holding the pacifier in her mouth and restarting her lullaby seahorse. As I discussed with Anastassia as she sucked away, this will not be a hard time to beat next time. Mike was suppose to take the stroller at the 4.5 mile mark but was not there as we passed by so I got to do the whole race with the stroller. I found at the 5 mile mark that Anastassia likes the sunroof open (canopy pulled back on her stroller/carseat) so she could enjoy the fresh air (would have been useful to discovery at mile 1) so she was all smiles once we found Mike at 6 mile mark. We crossed the finish line to cheers from the crowd and a lot of "you go girl"s. And we were not the last ones to cross the finish line. (Really our only goal for the day)

Snug as a bug at the start of the race - it was cool and damp but by mid-race all the blankets were gone and the sun was shining

Snack time again at the end of the race - good thing I planned ahead and did some pre-pumping for baby and mommy comfort.

The girls at the end of the race. Of course she sleeps now!

Chilling on Sunday morning watching a little ESPN

Yeah - Euro cup 2008 is on again!

(Anastassia "likes" watching soccer on the big screen - it is bright with a lot of movement)

First out of state trip & Mike's First Father's Day

We got adventurous and did a road trip to TN to see Scott & Kristen and family the weekend of Jun 13-14. It actually went well on the way up with Anastassia sleeping most of the way and only waking about 30 mins from our destination. We did a 5K in TN with Scott and Kristen and the girls. The boys ran the race and Kristen and I "ran" and pushed the strollers. Kristen was at a slight disadvantage due to pushing and double stroller with 2 18 month old (equaling about 50lbs) compare to my single 8lb passenger but everyone finished and were happy with their times. Jennifer actually ran this whole race which was pretty good since her c-sect was just 4 weeks prior. Definitely not a record setting pace but again not the last person to cross the finish line.

Post race - I survived!

The whole family

So when are we going to start winning these things?

The St. Joseph Family - post-race - everyone survived. Kristen came in 1st place in the double stroller category! Lets just say there was not a lot of competition!

Happy First Father's Day!

Anastassia made a plaster hand print (with mommy's help) for her daddy with a picture and put it in a frame that now sits on daddy's desk. Anastassia also made her soccer cheering debut (at least for the first half of the game) on Father's Day.

June 1 - June 14 -weeks 3-4

Anastassia had her 2 week doctors appointment on June 2. She weighed in at 8lbs (41 %tile), - getting closer to her birth weight of 8lbs 5oz, and 20.5 in (61 %tile) - birth length of 20.75 in but first pediatrician measurement of 20in so overall gain in 2 weeks of .5in. She had kind of an in-grown nail on her left thumb that the doctor removed so she got her first band-aid. Otherwise everything was fine.

Going to the doctor.

Oh my, I am such a drama queen with my band-aid. (which later we discovered missing and feared may have been eaten but later found in the chair)

Lets go home!

I am way cool!

Anastassia is a very loud sleeper. She moans and groan, kicks and wiggles in the bassinet so much so that she can get it rocking on her own and wiggles into the corner but can't get herself out so she starts to cry until someone moves her back to the center. She can not stand being swaddled and even in the hospital would kick her way out. She lasted about 3 weeks in our room before we started to put her in her crib at night to "sleep" which is bouts of about 2-3 hours.

This was the first attempt in the crib. She was not a big fan but adjusted quickly and now sleeps in there at night and for naps.

Congratulation cards

A cute card from cousin Theo and Christopher (Julie and Jaan's 2 boys) - not sure where he thinks she came from but at least she found her way to earth.

Cute daddy and baby picture

Just a cute picture

Her eyes are still blue

Our first 5K on June 7 in the Highlands. Mike ran it and Jennifer and Anastassia walked it. We had to have a snack break at mile 1.5 (out of 3.1 miles) but we finished it and were not the last ones to cross the finish line.

All ready to race!

At the finish line!

Oh all done - the towel feels so good!
